ABBONA BAROLA VIGNETO SAN PIETRO DOCG 1991

Reviewed by ANDRE BEAUMONT

A top of the range Barola, with a punchy 14% alcohol content, that lasts for ever on the palate. Coming from a single hectacre vineyard, the wine has been aged in oak casks for two years. The growers are recognised as amongst the best in the Piedmont region. A rich red hue, plenty of alcohol on the nose, tannin that sticks to the teeth, but well balanced, it will certainly get better as it gets older, too.
