The next risk is too many strains in one jab; too much unwarranted or obfuscated gene therapy
You cannot have a mRNA vaccine slipped surreptiously into a multi-strain flu vaccine simply because the pharmaceutical industry wants it there.
If there are adverse reactions you cannot readily identify which component is responsible.
You cannot expect a mRNA vaccine to act against all flus. Nature will fight back in a very unpleasant way (as it has against the first mRNA vaccines which may have had negative total effectiveness).
Already some of the flu strains which have been included by WHO in the past as inviting vaccination are oddball. They were not sweeping the world at all.
The natural immunity engendered by the first strain of Covid appears to have acted to reduce susceptibility to all coronoviruses that were previously endemic in humans.
Other respiratory viruses in humans are not doing well either, including flus. This indicates the effectiveness of natural immunity.

The lamppost was not straight
The Johnson government was not versed in the politics of the medico-pharmaceutical complex and few politicians are until they hold the DHSC portfolio.
They arrive thinking that the NHS is the organisation that will take care of everything health but it cannot and never could.
The big mistake is to sign off or nod through whatever the department puts before them without exercising the challenging independence of ministers that C.P. Snow would have wanted them to have.
In Johnson's case it brought him down.
The partying was trivial as Downing Street was not doing much for health anyway but the Conservatives instinctively knew that following the international trends on Covid instead of questioning them was a mistake - failing the eye test of the political road if you like - and seized their opportunity.
They did it for Maggie because of the poll tax and Labour did it for Keir because of digital ID (a wilful following of international trends if ever there was.)
It is hard to get rid of someone for the real reasons - that would involve too many people - but as things would have it Fauci is gone anyway.
Andy Burnham signed off too much as well but he has been through quite a bit in his independent phase so we wish him luck.
Directing more municipal money, tax pounds or anything else into the maw of private equity social care providers is not the answer.
We are all for giving the red light to stooges
The Royal Colleges need to say that they are disappointed that the government did not allow sufficient challenge - till Covid a British characteristic - by them of the safety of vaccines. Or else professional independence goes into the maw of AI and private equity.

At the height of tulipmania, Amsterdam canal houses were changing hands for virus laden bulbs. 389 years and still running.

These Senate hearings of 2026 have been seminal.
By extrapolation they show that the Covid responses of the British government were delusional.
It is hard, in retrospect, to find any action properly supported by science yet it proclaimed it was speaking 'the science'.
The philosophical basis for the existence of government has always been slender so it needs to show humility in anything it tries to do.
We need to move on.
Especially from narratives that now have minimal intellectual content. No wonder people do not choose the preferred outlets of government or its innane nudgings.
If government has encouraged more STEM graduates it cannot complain if they exercise more scientific rationality than the run of bureaucrats.
